The institute of Government reports that HO 478 allowing the Town of Columbus to annex certain land has been ratified HO 615 changing the Tryon ABC profits distribution has passed the House and in the Senate has been referred to the Committee on ABC. A visiting Committee of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools was at Tryon Elementary School and Tryon High School Tuesday and Wednesday. The Tryon schools are in the process of renewing their accreditation. Today at 3 p.m. is the annual meeting of the Polk County Community Foundation at the Fine Arts Center. Tonight from 7 to 10 p.m. is the Game and Fun Night at St. John's Catholic Church. Friday is the International Tea and Exhibit sponsored by the Polk County Extension Homemakers at the 4-H Center in Columbus The tea is from 3 to 5 p.m. and the exhibit is from 3 to 8. C. 28782 Democratic Women Meet Monday The Polk County Democratic Women will meet Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the courthouse in Columbus. Guests will be Precinct 1 officers and committeemen. All women 17 years and up and interested in good government are invited according to Mrs. Homar Jones, 1st Vice President Polk Chamber Meets Monday The Polk County Chamber of Commerce will meet Monday, April 27th at 7:30 p.m at the Chamber of Commerce office in Columbus. All interested participants who will help with the Fourth of July Celebration are invited. League Of Women Voters The annual luncheon meeting of the Tryon-Polk County League of Women Voters will be held Thursday, April 30 at the Pine Crest Inn, Tryon. The business meeting will start at 10:30 a m.,, followed by luncheon at 12:30. Price of the luncheon will be $6. Bernard Drummond will be the speaker An extra added attraction will be the newly revised "Tryon, Our Town" which Mrs. Rita Drummond has rewritten, the first new edition in ten years. THURSDAY. APRIL 23,1981 Engaged Miss Stacy Marie Ayers Mr and Mrs. Jerry D. Ayers of Route 1, Landrum, announce the engagement of their daughter, Stacey Marie, to Paul Joseph Brewer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Byron Brewer of Route 1, Tryon, N.C. Miss Ayers is a senior at Landrum High School and plans to attend Spartanburg Technical College in the fall. Mr. Brewer, a graduate of Polk Central High School and Spartanburg Technical College, is an electronics technician at Hatch Mill, a division of Milliken, in Columbus. A July 18th wedding is planned at the Landrum First Baptist Church. Meet Tonight The Ladies Auxiliary of the Tryon Fire Department will meet Thursday at 8 p.m. at the Fire Hall. Price 10c Per Copy Singing Saturday There will be Singing at Blue Ridge Freewill Baptist Church, Landrum at 7 p.m., featuring Don Atkins Family of Travelers Rest, S. C. and The Spiritualettes of Spartanburg. The Rev. Robert Price, pastor, said that everyone was invited. Pre-School Friday At Sunny View There will be Pre-School at Sunny View School on Friday, April 24th, from 9 a m. to 10:30 a.m. for all children in the Sunny View School District starting Kindergarten in the fall Parents bring your children along with birth certificates and immunization records. Any student who did not attend kindergarten this year and will be starting first grade in the fall is also included. WNCHSA To Meet The monthly meeting of the Western North Carolina Health Systems Agency Governing Body is scheduled for April 29, at 7:30 p.m. at the Asheville Mall's S & W Cafeteria, Asheville.
